The role

The successful appointee will be responsible for the maintenance and use of the renewable energy laboratory facility and facilitating innovative experimental trials with the Gatton Solar facility. The role will involve providing laboratory technical support to research staff and students within the power and energy research (PES) group and contribute to service and external engagement in these facilities.

The successful appointee will have access to renewable energy laboratory facility and Gatton Solar facility.

There are opportunities to work with the staff and students within the PES group and UQ Solar.

 

The person

Applicants should posses a PhD (or have submitted PhD thesis prior to taking up the position) in Electrical Engineering; or a Bachelor/Master’s degree with at least five years’ relevant work experience in the area of renewable energy.

You should have demonstrated expert knowledge in Real Time Digital Simulation, programming skill in Python/Matlab and PLC, expertise in hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop simulations, and evidence of a contribution to research projects in software/hardware platforms (including new innovative applications).

Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues is essential.

Industry experience and professional management skills, demonstrated experience with battery simulators, lithium ion batteries and power amplifiers, and experience in liaising and collaborating with external agencies to develop co-operative research initiatives are desirable/will be highly regarded.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 3 years at Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $75,557 - $81,545p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $88,401 - $95,408p.a.).
