Job Details
The University of Queensland Diamantina Institute (UQDI) aims to develop a better understanding of the molecular and cellular basis of disease, and to translate that understanding into practical outcomes for patients. UQDI has more than 300 researchers and students who work closely with clinicians in the areas of cancer, immunology and genomic medicine. The institute forms part of the Faculty of Medicine and is based at the Princess Alexandra Hospital teaching campus in Brisbane.
UQDI is located in the Translational Research Institute (TRI), an extremely well-equipped research centre with outstanding facilities for biomedical research. The role
Undertaking your Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree at UQDI will provide you with the foundations for a career in biomedical research. You will be mentored by world leading researchers, and you will have the opportunity to translate your discoveries into new treatments for patients.
The person
Expressions of Interest are invited from outstanding and enthusiastic, international and domestic, science or medical graduates ideally with a background in biomedicine, genomics, or any other relevant scientific discipline. Candidates will have a first-class Honours degree, a research masters degree, a coursework masters with a relevant research component, or equivalent degree, and should be eligible for UQ scholarship consideration.
Applicants must fulfil the PhD admission criteria for the University of Queensland, including meeting English language requirements, and demonstrating excellent capacity and potential for research. Demonstrated research capacity (research outputs such as publications or conference presentations) will be highly regarded.

Remuneration
Selected prospective international and domestic students will receive assistance to apply for University living allowance and tuition fee scholarships. The 2018 Research Training Program (RTP) living allowance stipend rate is AUD$27,082 per annum (indexed annually) for three years with two possible extensions of up to 6 months each in approved circumstances (conditions apply).
