Job Details
As part of this, the Creative Fellow will be provided with a week of Research and Development at The Other Place, Stratford-upon-Avon. In addition, the Creative Fellow is expected to contribute to the intellectual, creative and cultural life of the University through the delivery of a programme of activities, connected closely with the MA in Shakespeare and Creativity at the Shakespeare Institute. The Fellowship is open to established professional artists engaged in innovative practice in the field of theatre-making.
- The University does not require any academic or professional qualifications for the award of a Creative Fellowship
- No particular creative style or approach is favoured but the practice must be innovative and distinctive
- The Fellowship is open to professional theatre practitioners who have some specialism in Shakespeare as well as in creating new work. Applicants will demonstrate an enthusiasm for and experience of working in collaboration (within an academic or related environment)
- A demonstrable record of current, professional and innovative creative practice is essential
- Applicants should have experience of teaching or sharing their skills and expertise with others (e.g. mentoring fellow professionals or previous experience in HE)
- Proven ability to assess and organise resources effectively
- Proven ability to design and deliver activity within agreed schedules
- Ability to plan and manage interactions with others that are designed to share skills and experience (eg teaching/mentoring etc).
- To develop an original creative theatre project or piece of writing
- To meet monthly with the member of academic staff at the Shakespeare Institute responsible for the Creative Fellow.
- To run two master-classes for the module Shakespeare and Theatre Practice (MA Shakespeare and Creativity) on student monologues and duologues
- To run two sessions for the module The Shakespeare Ensemble (MA Shakespeare and Creativity), supporting the students in their creation of new plays for performance at The Other Place
- To lead a number of creative sessions such as seminars, workshops or tutorials for students at The Other Place, Stratford-upon-Avon, in the week commencing 18th February 2019
- To undertake a week of R&D at The Other Place, Stratford-upon-Avon, from 25th February to 1st March 2019
- To explore, where relevant, potential links with academic colleagues with a view to developing shared interests and investments.
