Job Details

This role is in support of a novel research programme of antimicrobial surfaces being built by the de Cogan group to synthesise surfaces and test their efficacy in in vitro systems. The surfaces are based on attaching a range of antimicrobial actives to metals and other materials. The actives then prevent infection. The role will undertake small scale manufacture and microbiological testing as well as liaison with industrial partners on the project and is available for 1 year.
  • NVQ, BTEC/ONC or equivalent; or specific relevant experience in an appropriate subject.
  • GCSE (A*- C) or equivalent in mathematics
  • Proven practical experience of relevant techniques required for the post
  • Positive service attitude and shows courtesy in dealing with others
  • Ability to organise and manage own work load after consultation with supervisor and demonstrate flexibility in terms of work practices/requirements
  • Ability to work as part of a team but to perform under minimum supervision
  • Awareness of current relevant H&S policies
  • Proficiency in commonly used software packages
  • Willingness to work towards professional registration
