The University of Nottingham's award-winning Political and Public Affairs Unit has a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious, dynamic public affairs or policy professional to join the team. 

Based on our stunning University Park campus in Nottingham, you will support the Deputy Director of Communications, Advocacy and Global Affairs, as well as the Head of Public Affairs, in leading and co-ordinating the University’s public affairs programme at the civic, regional and national levels. The role supports the University in developing and strengthening relationships with the full range of key external stakeholders. 

The role-holder will play a particularly active role in delivering exceptional levels of support to the University’s programme of civic and regional engagement; working with internal colleagues to align this with our approach to the Industrial Strategy and national policy development. They will also work closely with the new Institute for Policy and Engagement to provide advice, expertise and support high profile initiatives that increase the profile and impact of the University’s research amongst policymakers.

You will be joining a growing public and political affairs community that work across higher education – and have the opportunity to engage with an extraordinary breadth of policymakers in support of the University’s research objectives

Candidates should have experience of working in the field of public affairs, politics or policy, be this at the local, regional or national level. The must demonstrate they understanding of the UK political systems and stakeholders relevant to a higher education institution with an annual turnover of £600m. Creative, dynamic, confident and with excellent interpersonal skills – you will also be a talented administrator – with an understanding of the critical importance of close attention to detail to a successful external engagement programme.

This role will suit ambitious candidates with a desire to develop their career in the field. The post will involve regular travel to London and potentially overseas as is required. Occasional evening and weekend work is also expected. 

Interviews will take place on the morning of Tuesday 20th September at the University of Nottingham.

This is a full-time, fixed term post up to 28th February 2020.
