The Professorial Fellow will develop and lead the delivery of an impact strategy, the purpose of which is to accelerate the rate of take-up of research outcomes from the Track to the Future programme grant and its predecessors and associated research in railway infrastructure. The postholder may also be required to develop and lead programme level initiatives for the UK Collaboratorium for Research in Infrastructure and Cities (UKCRIC). 

The successful candidate will have a significant national and/or international reputation for leadership and innovation in the field of railway infrastructure planning and engineering, characterised by a sustained and continuing track record of excellence in his or her areas of activity. He or she will be recognised as an eminent leader in the field and will be expected to provide effective specialist leadership within the University. He or she will be able to make judgements at a strategic level and will contribute to the development of the University’s research excellence, impact and external profile in the UK and internationally.
