Level of knowledge and/or educational qualifications required:
  • Education to at least A level (or equivalent), GCSE level grade C or above inEnglish and Mathematics essential
  • Previous experience of student administration, office administration and diary management in an international and professional environment. Experience of a Higher Education environment would be preferable
  • Good all round IT skills including competence with all aspects of MS Office, email, the internet, Content Management Systems, Social Media, andcomplex spreadsheets

 

Skills/Attributes required:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, to be able to deal professionally and confidently with contacts at all levels, whether internal or external contacts including overseas partners, vice-chancellors/embassy officials
  • Good negotiation skills and influencing abilities in order to deliver on objectives
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • A flexible approach to work with the ability to multi-task to meet changing priorities
  • Ability to work on own initiative, manage time effectively, progress tasks concurrently and work to deadlines
  • Cultural sensitivity: awareness of the international perspective of the work of International Relations in terms of the diversity of our contacts and stakeholders
  • Fluency in another European language would be an advantage

 

Level of previous experience desired:

  • Experience of having worked in a HE institution dealing with international mobility would be a strong advantage
  • Experience of administering budgets would be an advantage
  • Experience of having worked or studied abroad would be an advantage

 

Work includes:

  • Supporting the Study Abroad and Exchanges activities, including, but not limited to the International and Erasmus outgoing and incoming activities
  • Administration of complex student's data and paperwork, ensuring the relevant IT systems are updated to record data and paperwork for both incoming and outgoing motilities and communicating with students and partners as appropriate.
  • Support in the production of correspondence to a variety of stakeholders in an appropriate style. This will include emails but also Canvas announcements, information for students and partners, copy for the website and briefings.
  • Support organising incoming partners delegations, and annual events
  • Support with arranging meetings, travel and events both inside and outside the University (potentially with senior University executives up to VC level, and Ministerial contacts)
  • Management of complex diaries

 

S/he is responsible for managing a high volume of independent activity while line manager may be overseas on business and is expected to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability when approaching the work of the division.

All International Relations team members are expected to exercise a high level of autonomy in their daily work, and each has his/her areas of expertise and needs to understand how these areas relate to those of other team members, and how their own actions and decisions may impact upon the work of others both internally and externally.
