Job Details
The Governance Officer must coordinate and manage competing priorities within the curriculum lifecycle timelines. The incumbent will be responsible for the effective administrative and executive support to the Faculty Board in Law and its sub-committees. As well as this The Governance Officer is primarily responsible for curriculum management flowing from such resolutions to ensure the most up to date and accurate information is stored on the CASS and CIS systems.
The Faculty of Law has a strong practical focus, a dynamic and expanding research culture and a commitment to social justice and inclusion. The Faculty is the home of the Anti-Slavery Australia centre, the Centre for Media Transition and the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII). The culture of the Faculty's professional administration is collaborative and responsive.
The Governance Officer is responsible for full committee secretarial services to the principal governing committees of the Faculty to ensure that resolutions, approvals, policy and procedures determined by the Faculty committees are properly recorded and promulgated within the Faculty and the University. The incumbent also manages the Faculty's curriculum and manages the edits to the course information system (CIS).
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
- Act as Committee Officer to the principal committees and Chair of the Faculty
- Advice and encourage positive Faculty decision-making and operational efficiency from the development of strong governance management framework
- Providing detailed and informed advise of Faculty courses to the Associate Dean and Director to assist with decision-making rational and curriculum management
- Working to maintain curriculum approvals, including but not limited to; Liaising with Academic Programs Office, ensuring governance is adhered to and updating and amending requisites
- Ensuring the Course Information System is updated and maintained on a regular basis
Main skills/experience required:
- Experience working in a complex environment and/or experience in academic/student administration in a university or similar environment
- Demonstrated ability to set and exhibit a high standard of quality service orientation
- Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders through written and verbal channels
- Strong IT skills and understanding of how to implement new databases, or the capacity to learn how to do so

Base Salary Range: $79,217 to $85,772 pa (HEW 6)
This role attracts 9.5% superannuation in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a fixed-term basis for 9 months.
