Job Details

We are looking for a highly motivated Research Technician to provide technical support for a research project within Virology laboratories in the School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine on a BBSRC funded project entitled ‘Adapting high throughput technologies to understand the process of viral zoonosis'. This post is funded until 3 January 2020.

You will be assisting the research team including postgraduate and undergraduate project students in maintaining tissue culture as well as preparing and analysing samples for cell and molecular biology studies. You will be expected to troubleshoot any problems with equipment or techniques and to keep excellent records of lab methodologies and data. You will be an integral member of a busy laboratory providing proactive assistance by keeping the laboratory organised and stocked. You will be required, alongside members of the laboratory, for keeping equipment well maintained and ensuring the lab is compliant with the regulatory framework, policies and guidelines. This position involves guiding of students and other laboratory members and visitors, as well as providing assistance towards dedicated research projects within a laboratory setting.
