Faculty of Humanities and Social Science

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) is a large comprehensive Faculty with a broad academic profile and substantial research achievements. The Faculty is based at the St Lucia campus in the iconic Forgan Smith building adjacent to the Great Court of the University. The Faculty comprises seven Schools, two research Institutes, two museums and several school-based research centres.

 

The role

The primary purpose of this position is to manage the academic governance functions of the Faculty and shape the strategic development of the Faculty's teaching and learning agenda under the broad guidance of the Associate Dean (Academic) and the Senior Manager, Student and Academic Administration.

To achieve this, the Manager, Academic Programs and Policy will prepare reports and review documentation relating to academic governance, administration, and compliance reporting of the Faculty; collect, analyse, review and interpret data related to the performance of activities and programs administered by the Faculty; and draft and manage policy submissions, guidelines and discussion papers. 

The Manager, Academic Programs and Policy will also engage in regular benchmarking of the academic administration of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences' activities and programs against UQ, national and international standards, thus supporting the Faculty's strategic alignment and positioning.

 

The person

Applicants should possess a degree in a relevant discipline with extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training. You should also be motivated and highly-organised with extensive experience in academic governance and compliance, as well as data collection, analysis and reporting.   Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong word processing and spreadsheet skills, are essential.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, continuing appointment at HEW Level 8. The remuneration package will be in the range $92,811 - $104,214 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $108,589 - $121,930 p.a.).
