Are you enthusiastic and forward-thinking specialist technician looking to shake-up your career?

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Bristol is looking for a specialist technician to operate the Earthquake Laboratory in order to support teaching, research and commercial activities.

Utilising your extensive knowledge of shaker tables, test rigs, hydraulics or comparable areas of expertise, you will manage the facility and provide a consultancy service to staff and students on laboratory specific specialist techniques.

The Earthquake Laboratory is located in the Queen's Building, containing a large shaker table, reaction wall and associated support and automation equipment.

It is essential you can work independently and under pressure towards pre-defined goals, with the ability to deal with and prioritise a range of concurrent activity. You will be a good communicator who can multitask and develop effective working relationships quickly across a range of internal and external contacts.

The following would be advantageous: experience in a similar teaching, test or research facility, trained in heavy lifting methods and working at height.

The position is being offered on a part time (0.5FTE), open-ended contract, and the University offers excellent employee benefits, including a generous annual leave entitlement, pension schemes and opportunities for staff development and flexible working.
