The University Strategic Plan (2014-2020) sets an ambitious target to grow research funding by 50% to £200m per annum by 2020. You will work as part of the UK Research Development Team, based centrally within the Research and Innovation Services, who play a key role in supporting academics to develop high quality research and innovation proposals. As a Research Development Manager you will be a key point of contact for UK public funding bodies primarily in the Engineering and Physical Sciences, to ensure intelligence and information on new funding opportunities can be identified and actively pursued. Activity will be largely focussed on areas where the University has distinct, recognised strengths and potential for growth.You will work with colleagues from across the University to provide a coordinated service across the full range of research and innovation activity and support the wider university research and innovation development agenda. You will quickly establish a University-wide profile, build networks across the University, work in partnership with Research and Innovation Development professionals and forge strong links with a range of stakeholders, including academics, funders and other Higher Education Institutes.Strong analytical skills will be crucial in order to undertake a detailed analysis of the research funding landscape and match this to University delivery capability, creating effective pathways to maximise potential of our unique expertise. With experience of developing and implementing research and innovation strategies in complex organisations, you will have excellent project management skills in addition to experience of working with academic teams in the development of successful external funding applications.Interviews will be held on 19th September 2018.
