Job Details

We are looking to recruit a motivated and hardworking post-doctoral research assistant to provide up to 12 months maternity cover for a British Heart Foundation funded research project investigating the role of nuclear actin dynamics in the regulation of vascular cell behaviour within the department of Translational Health Sciences, University of Bristol.  Actin, once believed to be solely a constituent of the cytoplasmic cytoskeleton, is now recognized to function in the nucleus in gene transcription and chromatin remodelling. This project seeks to characterise the importance of nuclear actin in mediating the anti-mitogenic effects of cAMP in vascular smooth muscle cells and how this controls vascular remodeling.

The successful candidate will have a PhD and ideally post-doctoral research experience in vascular cell signalling and molecular biology.  You will ideally have expertise in a range of molecular and cellular biology techniques, including primary cell culture, quantitative RT-PCR, western blotting, gene transfer and siRNA. You will be expected to become an active member of the research team and take responsibility for experimental design, data analysis and driving this project forward.

Informal enquiries can be made to Dr Mark Bond; Mark.bond@bris.ac.uk

The University is committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive culture.  We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
