    The Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences is one of five faculties at the University of Adelaide.     The School of Computer Science offers high quality accredited degrees in computer science, and software engineering, has strong links with industry and a robust research ethos.

    This role will conduct research into dense per-pixel prediction of images such as semantic segmentation, and instance segmentation; and video analysis such as human pose estimation and action classification.  The main goal of this project is to develop state-of-the-art methods for these problems. At the same time, this project also aims to deploy the developed methods to low power-consumption devices. 

    Multiple positions are available, and need to be filled as soon as possible.

    Superannuation: An employer contribution of 9.5% applies.

    Term of position: This fixed-term contract is available immediately for a duration of 1 - 2 years, with the possibility or further extension.

     

    Position requirements

    To be successful you should have:

    • A PhD in a relevant discipline of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or closely related field;
    • A background in Machine Learning, Image Understanding.  Experience in Deep Learning/Neural Networks is essential;
    • Knowledge in Computer Systems as well as experience in ARM/FPGA development is a plus;
    • A demonstrated and appropriate research track record, commensurate with project experience;
    • Strong programming skills in C/C++, and Python;
    • Strong interpersonal, communication skills; fluency in written and spoken English;
    • Ability to work individually and as a member of a broader team.
