    The Faculty of Sciences is one of five faculties at the University of Adelaide. As the first university in Australia to grant degrees in science (1882), science has long been at the cornerstone of the institution and this continues today.     The School of Agriculture, Food and Wine is embedded in the Faculty of Sciences. The school is located at the University's Waite campus, the pre-eminent agricultural and wine science research site in the Southern Hemisphere. The School offers academic programs in food and nutrition science, applied biology, agricultural science, viticulture and oenology and plant biotechnology. The School of Agriculture, Food and Wine has world-class expertise and facilities in human nutrition, agricultural and plant sciences, plant breeding, viticulture and oenology and biochemistry. The School is home to a range of research centres and works closely with a number of co-located partners including CSIRO (Agriculture, Land & Food), South Australian Research & Development Institute and Australian Wine Research Institute, as well as the South Australian Health & Medical Research Institute.

    We are seeking a motivated individual to join the Wine and Food Science Department. You will be expected to contribute to horticultural and viticultural teaching programs and have oversight of the management of the vineyards and orchards at the Waite Campus. 

    Superannuation: An employer contribution of 17% may apply.

    Term of position: This continuing position is available immediately.

     

    Eligibility Criteria:

    1. Tertiary qualification in Viticultural Science, Horticultural Science or other relevant discipline.
    2. Demonstrated experience in the management of vineyards and/or orchards.
    3. Experience in organising, teaching and supervising students in field and laboratory-based practical classes and field trips.
    4. Extensive industry experience in viticulture and/or horticulture.

     

    Position requirements

    To be successful you should have:

    1. The ability to oversee, develop and implement safe working practices in the workplace
    2. Good organisational and time management skills.
    3. Demonstrable commitment to high-quality learning outcomes.
    4. Knowledge of major Australian and International vineyard and orchard management practices and technologies.
