Job Details

Applications are invited for a part-time (50%), one-year Postdoc position starting September 2018 or later, within the field of advanced topology optimization of thermal energy systems at the Department of Mechanical Engineering (the TopOpt Group), Technical University of Denmark. The Postdoc-project is partly funded through the TOpTen project funded by the Danish Council for Independent Research.

The Postdoc project is aimed at development of advanced topology optimization strategies and codes for design of thermal energy systems and related non-linear multi-physics problems. An integral part of the project is to realize optimized structures fabricated using additive manufacturing techniques and test them against current standard structures.

The research project requires programming of large-scale, parallel computing codes for modelling and topology optimization of non-linear PDE problems.

Responsibilities and tasks

The Postdoc shall contribute and interact with a team of junior and senior researchers working with different aspects of high performance computing and optimization. Due to the limited time of employment, the Postdoc is expected to have extensive experience within the field including, but not limited to parallel programming, topology optimization technologies, modelling of non-linear systems of PDE's and contribution to manuscript preparations and grant application writing.

Apart from internal collaborations with TopOpt-group members, the Postdoc is expected to collaborate with various partners at other DTU Departments with regards to optimization, manufacturing and test of Multiphysics structures.

Qualifications

The applicant must have obtained a PhD-degree or equivalent within Mechanic Engineering, Numerical Modelling or parallel programming and have documented and extensive experience in

  • Multiphysics modelling and optimization
  • Parallel programming
  • Topology optimization technologies
  • Modelling of non-linear systems of PDE's

as well as possessing an extensive publication record within above fields.
