Aquatic Ecologist
Wellesley College
The Department of Biological Sciences at Wellesley College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR to start in Fall 2019.
We seek a broadly trained aquatic ecologist with a field-based research program who is strongly committed to excellence in both teaching and research in an undergraduate liberal arts college environment. The position is open to any area of aquatic ecology, however, we are particularly interested in candidates with strong quantitative skills, natural history expertise, and a field component to their research. A Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience are strongly preferred, ABD considered. We welcome candidates with familiarity and/or experience with innovative STEM pedagogy and who will develop an active research program that involves undergraduates. A competitive start-up package will be provided. A special strength of Wellesley is our diverse student body, and we are dedicated to building a similarly diverse faculty community. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and service.
In addition to teaching introductory organismal biology and an aquatic ecology or marine biology course, successful candidates would be expected to offer an advanced course in their specialty and to contribute to new pedagogy in data science.
Applications should include a cover letter, curriculum vita, statements of teaching and research interests, and 3 letters of recommendation (the online application will request name and email address in order for recommenders or dossier services to submit letters directly). Materials should be submitted by visiting our application website at http://career.wellesley.edu/postings/2317. Questions about the application process may be directed to working@wellesley.edu. Deadline to submit applications is September 21st.
Wellesley College is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer, and we are committed to increasing the diversity of the college community and the curriculum. Candidates who believe they can contribute to that goal are encouraged to apply.
