Job Details

To provide a comprehensive range of professional safety and wellbeing services, with particular focus on supporting the University research capability (in laboratories, specialised facilities and fieldwork).

One of the primary roles of this post is to lead on the hazardous substances and physical agent services, which support the implementation of the University's Policies, whilst working closely with other colleagues across the team on a range of health, safety and wellbeing issues including the other research related specialities (biological agents, radiation safety, laboratory processes and equipment).

  • A relevant degree qualification or equivalent in a science or other subject with substantial technical content
  • Diploma level qualification in occupational health and safety (or equivalent)
  • Chartered Member of IOSH
  • Significant post-qualification experience in hazardous substances and physical agents work and adviceand a knowledge and understanding of risk management systems applicable to the relevant legislation
  • Ability to use occupational hygiene instrumentation (to develop risk assessments)
  • Line management experience
