Job Details

The University of Bristol is seeking to appoint a new Research Development Associate (RDA) within the Division of Research and Enterprise Development (RED).  The role of the RDA is to develop and promote the University's research portfolio for a number of the University Faculties (Health Sciences, Life Sciences, Science and Engineering in this instance) under the direction of the Research Development Managers (RDMs). The RDA will achieve this through providing strategic support for Faculty research, using a pan-University approach in recognition of the cross-disciplinary nature of research. The RDA provides expert advice and guidance (typically at a level equivalent to co-applicant) in the preparation of major or strategic research bids (particularly fellowships and new investigator awards) and acts as a critical link between the Faculties and RED's broader activities.

In order to carry out this role effectively, you will have significant relevant experience within Research Management or Research Funding, through which you will have gained specialist knowledge of research activity and management within Higher Education and of Higher Education funding streams. Further to this we will also expect you to be technologically literate and up to date across a broad range of disciplines to form an effective and credible interface between the University and a wide variety of funding organisations.

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to form credible relationships with senior staff, including the PVCs, Deans, Research Directors and Heads of Departments/Schools. You will be able to demonstrate excellent time management and organisational skills in order to manage a large portfolio of complex projects.

Please contact Zoe Holland (zoe.holland@bristol.ac.uk) for further information or an informal discussion about the role.

The closing date for application is 11.59pm on Sunday 9th September 2018 and the interviews are most likely to be held on Thursday 27th September 2018.

The university is committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive culture.  We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
