Postdoc in Computational Synthetic Biology

Job Details

We are seeking 3 talented postdocs to work on interdisciplinary projects involving computational synthetic biology. The postdoc will join the newly initiated Cell Architecture Group (PI Ryan T. Gill) at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (CFB) in Denmark. CFB is part of the Technical University of Denmark and provides an excellent research environment with state-of-the-art facilities and advanced technologies with special emphasis on cell factory engineering and system biology technologies.

Responsibilities and tasks

The candidate will focus on developing R&D-facing software with a synthetic biology focus to aide in the development of next generation design-build-test-learn strategies using mathematical modeling (kinetic and-or genome scale), simulation, data science, machine learning, bioinformatics, and other computationally intensive techniques.

Specific tasks will include

  • Document, develop, and deploy software to the technical team
  • Support ongoing repairs and training on developed software
  • Participate in the development and execution of research projects
  • Analyze and organize data to draw meaningful conclusions
  • Develop and support the submission of patents and other intellectual property
  • Publish and present at professional meetings as appropriate.

 

Qualifications

  • Excellence in independent problem solving
  • Expertise in full-stack development with front-end development
  • Database experience (SQL or NoSQL) using complex queries
  • REST API development and familiarity with scripting languages such as Python
  • Strong math and logic skills
  • Enjoy sharing knowledge and experience with others
  • Ability to lead multiple projects and support collaborations
  • PhD degree or similar in computer science, applied mathematics, engineering, quantitative biology or or equivalent as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Researcher or Postdoc

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

Workplace and period of employment

The period of employment is time limited to December 31, 2020.
The place of employment is the DTU main campus in Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark.
