Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be required to:

  • Render a specialised video production service to academic as well as non-academic clients;
  • Visualise and conceptualise videos for a hybrid teaching and learning environment and multimedia products for use by lecturers;
  • Ensure effective administration which includes record-keeping and invoicing;
  • Provide guidance and training to staff and students;
  • Compile quotations;
  • Manage projects including needs analysis, scope, planning, scripts, funding, timeframes and research;
  • Work on any of the campuses of up, as determined by the needs of the client and the department;
  • Apply quality control.

 

Minimum requirements:

  • Relevant bachelor's degree or diploma in video production or equivalent higher education qualification;
  • At least six years' experience in managing own video production projects;
  • Expert knowledge in the following:

  • Appropriate language and communication skills;
  • Organisational skills;
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills;
  • Ability to convey ideas and proposals to clients effectively;
  • Ability to deal with sensitive information on a confidential basis;
  • Sensitivity to client's and users' personal and cultural preferences with regard to visual material;
  • Relationship building skills based on the ability to work effectively with people.

 

Added advantages and preferences:

  • Diploma or degree in video production;
  • Recent training certificates;
  • Any qualification or short course in the educational application of video technology;
  • Professional knowledge in all areas of videography;
  • Has previously worked in an academic environment;
  • Experience in the latest technology/trends in video/sound communication.

 

Please note: all shortlisted candidates may be required to provide a portfolio of work as part of the selection process.

The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately r 543 334 to r 669 738 as determined by up policy guidelines. (these amounts include the university's contributions to standard up benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) Up subscribes to the bestmed medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
