Job Details
The University of Queensland Biological Resources Unit (UQBR) manages the laboratory animal production and research facilities for The University of Queensland (UQ).
The role of UQBR is to provide UQ with world class Animal Research Services within a best practice ethical framework.
The role
The Animal Facility Manager's primary purpose will be to manage all infrastructure, daily operational activities and personnel management of three small UQ Biological Resources (UQBR) animal facilities - SCMB/CAI & OTTO. This position involves a high level of responsibility in a significant supervisory, administrative, and human resource management. The Animal Facility Manager will also have a broader role in facilitating Research using animals at UQ and to assist in the further development of UQBR as a world class service provider.
The person
Applicants should possess qualifications in relevant disciplines. You should also have significant practical experience in the operational aspects of managing rodent production units to proscribed health status and/or considerable experience in producing and using animals in the research environment. A high level of Human, physical and financial resource management skills and the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders are essential.

Remuneration
This is a full-time, 5 years - fixed term appointment at HEW Level 7. The remuneration package will be in the range $81,884 - $89,559 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $95,804 - $104,784 p.a.).
