The Department of Epidemiology and Public Health (EPH), within Swiss TPH, develops and applies economic, epidemiological, statistical and mathematical methods to advance innovation, validation and application in the field of public health. Within our Households Economics and Health Systems Research Unit we are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate/Health Economist (100%) to support our research efforts related to economic evaluations of public health interventions. The research associate will support a range of research activities and projects assessing cost and cost-effectiveness of strategies to control and eliminate infectious diseases as well as of other public health interventions. The Research Associate will also contribute to other projects in the unit, including contributions to academic papers and development of new grants.

 

Experience and skill requirements

To best fit the requirements of the position, we expect the following qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in either Health Economics, Decision Science, Public Health, Economics, or Statistics
  • Demonstrated interest in, and experience with, economic evaluation of health interventions
  • Good programming skills in R and/or STATA.
  • Good communication skills, strong spirit of team work and initiative, and ability to work with professionals in a multi-cultural context
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on research programmes
  • Excellent command of English (speaking and writing)
  • Willingness to conduct research activities and spend time in low income countries.

Start of employment: November 2018 (with some flexibility).

Appointments will be made for an initial period of two years, but can potentially be renewed.
