UQ Human Resources is responsible for enabling achievement of the University's strategic ambitions through attracting, developing, and retaining talented, engaged, and high performing staff. This, in turn, enables University staff to better support our current and future students. Human Resources provides high quality resource management guidance and expertise, through effective policy development, constructive advice and efficient administrative services. We are building a team of strategic HR professionals to provide outstanding, client focused, proactive and effective solutions and services for all UQ staff.

 

The role

Through the leadership of the new People Services unit, the Associate Director, People Services is accountable for the delivery of professional and customer focused Employee Services and Recruitment Services. The successful candidate will play a significant role in shaping the new People Services unit and will be responsible for the implementation of the new service delivery model in conjunction with the Chief Human Resources Officer.

As a senior member of the Human Resources Executive leadership team, this role will be required to provide effective leadership and management to the People Services unit and provide expert advice and clear decisions on strategic and operational matters to deliver exceptional services.

This position directly supervises senior managers leading the employee services and recruitment services teams and the HR Manager (Projects).

 

The person

The successful candidate will require significant experience in implementing and managing an organisation wide shared services model in a large and complex organisation. Your proven track record of leading a large team should be coupled with your ability to effectively influence across an organisation. Highly developed analytical, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, and outstanding interpersonal and communication capabilities, are essential for this role.

Remuneration

This role is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 5 years. An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate. Remuneration will be subject to periodic review.
