Head of Department (Accounting)

UTS Business School is the largest Faculty at UTS and one of the larger business schools in Australia, with over 10,000 students and 350 staff. In the most recent round of Excellence in Research Australia (ERA), the Business School was ranked equal third in Australia across Economics and Commerce and Management. Performance in Accounting research in ERA was rated “Above World Class”.

UTS Business School is now seeking to appoint a new Head of Department (Accounting). The Department  comprises 35 full-time academics and 5 full-time professional staff, and has an annual operating budget in excess of $12m. Accounting at UTS is focused on meeting the needs of modern businesses, both through the need for highly trained graduates ready for the professional environment and undertaking research that aims to improve the efficiency of Australian businesses and financial markets.

The Head of Department will provide academic, research and professional leadership, develop and lead research and industry engagement activities, and shape teaching in the Department of Accounting at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Along with demonstrated academic standing in a field relevant to the Department, the successful candidate will bring a commitment to quality and innovation in teaching and learning and the ability to engage with industry and other partners. Candidates will need to have strong interpersonal communication skills and a passion to operate effectively as a member of a collaborative team in a highly dynamic environment.
