Job Details

The aim of the project is to study the hemiesters of carbonic acid (HECAs) - AKA monoalkyl carbonates - of nitrogen and cell membrane compounds. Hydroxy compounds with aminic, amidic, or quaternary ammonium (e.g., alkanolamines, choline, panthenol, and serine) will be investigated. We have used different techniques such as capillary electrophoresis, mass spectrometry, and 13C NMR. Now, we intend to include the use of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), surface plasmon resonance (SPR), and quartz crystal microbalance (QCM).

Desired skills and experience

We do not expect the candidate to be an expert in all the following topics, but he/she should be willing to learn and deal with different subjects such as:

  • Aqueous-phase organic chemistry;
  • Capillary electrophoresis;
  • Mass spectrometry;
  • NMR spectroscopy;
  • Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy;
  • Surface plasmon resonance;
  • Quartz crystal microbalance.

About the employer

The post-doc will join a group that has been involved for ten years studying the HECAs at the Department of Fundamental Chemistry from the University of São Paulo - one of the most important universities in Brazil. The post-doc will be offered a fellowship from the Sao Paulo Research Foundation -- FAPESP.
