Postdoctoral Researchers in Geochemistry/Petrology

We invite applications for postdoctoral researcher positions in Geochemistry/Petrology. The successful candidate will be part of the Isotopic GeochemistryGroupStateKey Laboratory at the Guanghzou Institute of Geochemistry and will be developing research within the field of geochemical cycles applied to subduction zones and mantle plumes. The postdocs will also be encouraged to develop his/her own research projects. We seek highly motived and independent scientists that hold a PhD in the field of Geology or geochemistry.

GIG possesses a good track record of collaborative and multi-disciplinary work in the field of subduction zones, formation of continental crust, mantle plumes and the deep Earth's geochemical cycle, experimental petrology. In terms of research infrastructure, GIG is home to state-of-the-art analytical facilities, including the Laser ablation Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer and electron microprobe, SIMS, TIMS and MC-ICP-MS used to measure stable isotopic ratios, and Pb-Hf-Nd-Sr radiogenic ratios.

Guangzhou is one of the best cities in China with a large international community, bus and metro transportation, and site seeing (https://littlegreybox.net/2015/08/06/discovering-guangzhou/). It is within 2 hours from Hong-Kong and possesses bullet train and one international airport with direct flights from the main European and US cities. It has a good community of international people as well as several sight seeing.

Position: Post-Doctoral Researcher in Geochemistry, ~ 20 000 RMB/month.

Duration: 2 years, renewable upon satisfaction.

Start date: 1 December 2018 or as soon as possible hereafter.

Qualifications: a PhD in Earth Science or geochemistry is required. Good spoken and writing English skills are required. Experience in the lab is highly desirable.
