A postdoctoral and PhD position are open in the Bioinformatics group at the School of Engineering of University of Navarra, TECNUN, which is located in San Sebastian, one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. Our group spans the areas of personalized medicine and nutrition, as well as systems pharmacology, with a clear focus on genome-scale metabolic networks and applications to cancer, obesity and rare diseases. Candidates interested in using computational tools and mathematical models to analyze large-scale meta-omics data in the context of personalized nutrition are encouraged to apply. Selected candidates will be involved in a large-scale H2020 funded European project about human gut microbiota and nutrition. In particular, the main task will be the construction of computational metabolic models of human gut microbiota, based on a unique set of experimental technologies and meta-omics data, studying how the gut metabolic machinery is affected by foods and culinary practices.

Candidates must hold a degree in statistics, mathematics, physics, engineering or computer science, or a degree in biological science with substantial experience in bioinformatics and systems biology, as well as programming skills.

We will appreciate candidates with previous expertise in the analysis of metabolic modeling and meta-omics data, although other profiles will also be considered.
