The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/ BMT and C. S. Mott Children’s Hospital at Michigan Medicine are recruiting for a full-time academic Pediatric Neuro-Oncology faculty member at the Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor rank, contingent upon qualifications. This position will focus on providing exceptional clinical care to the pediatric and young adult brain and spinal cord tumor patients in our neuro-oncology and general oncology service division. You will also focus on clinical/translational research studies as a part of your academic and scholarly activity and participate in the educational activities for the trainees as well as medical students. In this position you will take lead in developing investigator initiated clinical /translational trials for the brain tumor population and will participate in several ongoing, very exciting divisional research studies. Candidates must possess an M.D. or D.O. degree, must have completed a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, be board certified/ eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and be eligible for licensure in the State of Michigan. Proven excellence in clinical care and teaching is required and some formal training in pediatric neuro-oncology is preferred.

The Pediatric Oncology and Neuro-Oncology Program (http://www.mottchildren.org/conditions-treatments/pediatric-brain-tumors) at Michigan Medicine is a tertiary referral center for the state of Michigan and nearby upper mid-western states. It is home to the state’s only Pediatric Phase-I Program ( https://www.mottchildren.org/conditions-treatments/ped-cancer/research/clinical-trials), a state of the art Pediatric Precision Oncology Program (https://www.mottchildren.org/ped-cancer/precision-oncology), High Dose MIBG therapy center and Cellular Therapy program. Our Pediatric Oncology program sees 130 new cancer diagnoses annually, including 35-40 newly diagnosed pediatric and young adult brain tumor patients. The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant Program is housed in the state of the art C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and is staffed by 20 physicians, 7 fellows and 14 nurse practitioners. Our program is an active member institution of the Children’s Oncology Group Phase I consortium, COG Phase II-III treatment center, NANT, TACL consortium and PBMTC. In addition, the division has several investigator-initiated early phase clinical trials in brain tumors, neuroblastoma, precision oncology and pediatric BMT. Our Pedaitirc Neuro-Oncology program hosts multidisciplinary, multi-institutional Pediatric Brain Tumor Precision Oncology Conference (https://medicine.umich.edu/dept/pediatrics/divisions/pediatric-hematologyoncology/brain-tumor-cns-precision-medicine-conference) and Solid Tumor Oncology Program (MSTOP) tumor board in collaboration with the Departments of Neurosurgery, Neuro-Pathology, Radiation Oncology, Pediatric Surgery, Genetics and Pediatric Radiology.

The Pediatric Oncology program is home to the exciting Chad Carr Pediatric Brain Tumor Center (https://medicine.umich.edu/dept/pediatric-brain-tumor-research-initiative). In addition, the division also has focused basic, translational and clinical research programs in sarcomas including SARC SPORE, precision oncology, neuroblastoma, leukemia and Pediatric BMT. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other research investigators in the Rogel Cancer Center, a NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center (https://www.rogelcancercenter.org) and UM School of Public Health (https://sph.umich.edu).
