Senior Research Assistant, Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences

The Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences strives to achieve excellence in both teaching and research. The development and expansion of educational and thematic research programmes in innovative and relevant basic and applied research will take AKU to the next level on the international scene while benefitting specific health care needs of Pakistan.

The Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences invites applications for the position of Senior Research Assistant to work on the AKU-University Research Council (URC) sponsored research project. 

This is a short-term contractual position for a period of six months. 

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

• recruiting and/or interviewing study subjects from collaborators clinics and operating rooms to collect and record data and/or samples as appropriate to the specific objectives of the study 
• performing phlebotomy to collect samples from study subjects
• following-up study subjects for relevant biochemical tests as appropriate to the specific objectives of the study 
• coding and verifying data in accordance with specified research protocol and coding procedures and enter data into a computer database and/or spreadsheet application for subsequent analysis
• managing and responding to project related emails, and attend project meetings.

Requirements

You should have: 

• at least M.Sc/M.Phil in Biological Sciences will be preferred 
• at least one year research related experience 
• working knowledge in basic sciences with skills in phlebotomy and laboratory techniques
• computer literacy
• ability to multi task several projects 
• ability to work in fast paced environment
• excellent interpersonal  and communication skills.
