Academic Coordinator / Lecturer: Thuthuka Project

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Teach Accounting students.
  • Participate in research projects at the School of Accountancy.
  • Place students in residences.
  • Transfer pocket money to individual students' bank accounts.
  • Communicate with students.
  • Arrange transport and venues for students.
  • Buy textbooks and other stationery and control the use thereof.
  • Liaise with residences.
  • Arrange excursions.
  • Keep record of petty cash and analyse expenses.
  • Issue requisitions for purchase orders.
  • Keep database of students profiles such as dates of births and related information.
  • Organise all relevant functions.
  • Serve on the Thuthuka Committee.
  • Liaise with SAICA.
  • Co-ordinate lecturers within a specific year group.
  • Monitor test results of all relevant modules.
  • Liaise with mentors.
  • Organise guest lecturers for skills development.
  • Handle orientation of students.
  • Organise study hours and tutor classes.
  • Keep record of all attendance registers.
  • Participate in academic programmes and presentation of academic modules.
  • Liaise with academic and support staff in the School of Accountancy.

 

Inherent requirements:

  • CA (SA).
  • Registration with SAICA.
  • A good academic record.

 

Required competencies:

  • Good teamwork skills.
  • Computer literacy skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University's diverse working environment.                                                                                                                           

 

Recommendations:

  • Relevant teaching experience at an institution of higher learning.
  • Willing to enrol for a master's degree at the first available opportunity, if not yet attained by the time of the appointment.
  • Passion for students.
  • Willingness to assist students.

 

Assumption of duties:

As soon as possible.
