Duties and responsibilities:

• Teach undergraduate and Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) modules in life skills education with specific focus on drama and/ or creative arts.
• Participate in the work integrated learning programme (teaching practice).
• Ensure active involvement in research activities.
• Contribute to curriculum development in the field of life skills, drama and/ or creative arts. .
• Provide consultation sessions for students.
• Work in a team with colleagues within the Faculty.
• Contribute to academic coordination and perform administrative tasks related to teaching practice.

Inherent requirements:

• A relevant honours degree in Education, with Drama as major subject at undergraduate level.
• A good academic record.

Required competencies:

• Teaching experience in life skills and/or drama.
• Knowledge of- and the ability to use Learning Management Systems (LMS) for teaching and assessment.
• Familiarity with inclusive pedagogic practices and alternative assessment strategies.
• Good research skills and writing abilities.
• Sound interpersonal relationship skills.
• Good computer literacy skills.

Recommendations:

• Master's degree or willingness to enrol for a Master's degree in an appropriate Educational field of study at the first available opportunity, if not yet attained by the time of the appointment.
• One (1) year teaching experience in a higher education context.
• Six (6) to twelve (12) month's experience experience in the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS) to facilitate teaching and learning.
• Familiarity with teaching strategies, methodologies and assessments practices used in higher education contexts.
