Role Description

The Science and Engineering Challenge (SEC) Team Leader is primarily responsible for planning and delivering SEC events around Australia. As a secondary role, this Team Leader is responsible for delivering SEC engagement and educational activities/resources.

 

 

Overview Of Unit/school And Position Context

The Science and Engineering Challenge (SEC) provides a pathway of memorable and fun activities for young people during their years at school, through University and into the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) workforce. inspire students in year 10 to study the enabling sciences and mathematics in years 11 and 12, and consider a future career in science and engineering. The SEC also inv olves the community in many of its programs, and provides training and resources for teachers. ORGANISATION CHART

 

 

Role Responsibilities And Typical Activities

Areas of accountability listed in approximate order of importance and time commitment

  • Be responsible to the SEC Director for organising and running his/her delegated SEC events
  • Adhere to the policies and guidelines defined by the National Science and Engineering Challenge Council (NSECC) and the Director to organise and run SEC events

 

This includes:

  • Liaise with SEC regional organising committees, in particular the Regional Chair/Local Organiser, to organise and run SEC events.
  • Coordinate and distribute relevant documentation required for the event.
  • Make accommodation and travel arrangements for the University team for upcoming events.
  • Prepare, maintain and repair SEC equipment, as required.
  • Actually run various SEC events, in ar 9 - 10 students.
  • Travel to, bump - in and setup at the venue, SEC events conducted professionally and safely and reports submitted in a professional and timely fashion SEC equipment under the control of the Team Leader is maintained in an o perational and safe state.
  • Training/ pre - briefing event staff
  • Checking the safety of venue and equipment
  • Overall management of the day
  • MC the event
  • Conduct the Teachers meeting
  • Complete the appropriate event and reports.
  • Deliver SEC engagement activities/resources, including supervising casual and scholarship staff.
  • Coordinating engagement events (usually with the SMART Team Leader).
  • Oversight of the SEC web pages.
  • Produce/manage SEC social media.
  • Produce/manage SEC various newsletters, information sheets and communications.
  • Manage the workgroup budget.
  • Manage communication, delegation and roles of the workgroup SEC engagement events are conducted professionally and safely Web pages are attractive and up - to - date
  • Grow SEC social media following.
