The Lecturer in Societies, Cultures and Human Services contributes to the delivery of the University™s Strategic Plan as part of an interdisciplinary cluster in the wider Humanities and Social Sciences as a key member of the School providing excellence in Research and Innovation, Teaching and Learning, and Service and Engagement. The Lecturer in Societies, Cultures and Human Services combines sound academic research expertise with teaching experience, is expected to be a Course Coordinator, and is gaining r ecognition for their contribution to research, teaching, and postgraduate supervision, and is active in community engagement. The Lecturer in Societies, Cultures and Human Services will contribute to relevant disciplines, and particular emphasis will be pl aced on the capacity to build industry engagement and partnerships in research.

  Overview of School and Position Context

The Faculty of Education and Arts (FEDUA) has a proud tradition of excellent teaching, a strong research profile, a focus on Work Integrated Learning (WIL), students coming to university from low SES backgrounds, Indigenous students, adults returning to study, and excellent students entering university from high school seeking opportunities through higher education. The School offers undergraduate, postgraduate coursework and Higher Degrees by Research. It features several degree programs that connect interdisciplinary strengths in separate disciplines so that graduates are better prepared to sustainably influence cultural and social change. The School offers degree programs in Arts and Humanities, Social Science, Speech Pathology, and Social Work. The School is a major driver of the Faculty and University™s social research and innovation agenda and will increasingly look to pursue ind ustry engagement into new markets for research and development, social innovation, and potential commercialisation opportunities, particularly in the social and human services, arts, heritage and culture sector, and through our professionally accredited de grees. Role Responsibilities And Typical Activities

Areas of accountability listed in approximate order of importance and time commitment Area of accountability Core Responsibilities & Typical Activities Measures of Performance Research and Innovation Demonstrate effective research skills, the establishment of a record of outputs in high -quality refereed journals/outlets, an active role in grant applications and evidence of emerging national recognition in related fields of expertise. Participate as an active member of the School™s research group(s). Establish/maintain new partnerships/networks with industry, government and NGOs to support research opportunities and funding. Meet the core requirements for Level B academic staff listed under Research and Innovation in the Performance Expectation Framework for Academic Staff. Pro Vice -Chancellor (FEDUA) Head of School School of Humanities and Social Science Lecturer With the support of mentors/supervisors, co -supervise HDR students, and co -publish with HDR students. Teaching and Learning Demonstrate educational leadership in Teaching and Learning at the course level and contribute to the program level by:

  • Actively updating and delivering courses/content in various formats and locations (including online delivery and support) to enhance the student experience.
  • Assisting in reviewing and coordinating undergraduate and postgraduate course work and coordinating interdisciplinary development of course materials.
  • Promoting teaching innovation including the integration of contemporary trends across relevant onlin e and digital platforms and media into content and delivery.
  • Demonstrating the application of continuous improvement methodologies to inform a positive student experience. This will include the regular review of course analytics, relevant quality assura nce standards and other appropriate feedback/benchmarking data; and;
  • With the support of senior academics, developing course material that integrates business/social/cultural enterprise/partnerships to deliver relevant applications and opportunities for students consistent with contemporary labour force trends.
  • Meet the core requirements for Level B academic staff listed under Teaching and Learning in the Performance Expectations Framework for Academic Staff. Service and Engagement Collaborate with coll eagues to contribute to the University and its academic community by assisting the School to deliver a range of administrative functions including course coordination, governance and committee roles, and University activities/initiatives.
  • Actively contrib ute to the School through a range of administrative functions including cluster committee roles, course coordination and proactive involvement in University activities/initiatives as appropriate. Maintain membership of professional associations/industry networks and build Meet the core requirements for Level B academic staff listed under Service and Engagement in the Performance Expectations Framework for Academic Staff.
  • Partnerships with secondary schools and business/social/cultural enterprises.
  • Develop a public profile as a commentator on discipline/industry related issues.
