Job Purpose

To create and contribute to the creation of knowledge by undertaking a specified range ofactivities within an established research programme and/or specific research project. The main purpose of this position will be the development of an effective technique for integrating Aluminium fumarate MOF materials in the adsorber bed to minimise thermal contact losses and improve adsorber bed performance thus improving the adsorption system performance for production of heating, cooling, desalinated water and stored energy.

This will be accomplished through investigating various binders for coating the adsorber beds with MOF materials, developing the best coating technique and optimising the adsorber bed design for maximum performance. Advance thermal and fluid dynamic simulation of adsorption systems and appropriate manufacturing techniques, as well as the application of innovative and compact heat exchangers will be carried out to enable the development of MOF coated adsorption system for various applications. Full attention will also be given to the development of a representative prototype, carry out performance testing and validate the simulation. The researcher will also collaborate with MOF Technology Ltd in terms of effective knowledge transfer between the University and the company to develop the world's first advanced adsorption heat pump.

The researcher will be responsible for disseminating the scientific outcomes of the project through publications at reputable journals, presentations at national and international seminars / conferences and meetings with industrial partners. Furthermore, the researcher will endeavour to apply for funding to support exploiting the technology developed in wide range of applications.
