Health Economics Research Fellow

The Health Economist Research Fellow will have a joint appointment with the Centre for Improving Palliative, Aged and Chronic Care through Clinical Research and Translation (IMPACCT). Working collaboratively across both teams, the Health Economics Research Fellow will undertake independent research on health economic measures in palliative care, commissioned work and perform critical appraisal of palliative care interventions.

The Research Fellow  will report to the Centre Director. In this role, you will undertake independent research using a range of different health economics methods and data sets.  You will be expected to work on both commissioned projects and investigator initiated competitive grants. The role will include evaluating clinical interventions in palliative care at a level that could inform applications to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) or Medicare Benefits Advisory Committee as appropriate.

Our areas of expertise include economic evaluation and health technology assessment, applied econometrics, discrete choice experiments, health outcome measurement and policy evaluation.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Experience in the conduct of clinical trials and/or palliative care
• Ability to contribute peer reviewed publications, reports, and research applications
• Experience in economic evaluation and health technology assessment, or related research
• Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with other collaborators of various health disciplines to develop new study design and achieve current project outcomes
• Ability to publish in high quality journals
• A post-graduate degree in economics, health economics, health services research, statistics, public health, epidemiology, pharmacy or equivalent
• Experience in writing grant applications, tenders and reports.
