Senior Lecturer in Information Systems

The School of Information, Systems and Modelling is seeking to recruit a Lecturer in Information Systems and a Senior Lecturer in Information Systems. These roles will contribute to the school and the discipline and advance the research profile of the school and wider faculty.

Whilst close to half of graduates from STEM fields are women, there is a significant underrepresentation of women in senior academic roles in these fields.

Based in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, the School of Information, Systems and Modelling focuses on the development of skills and methods to use technology to understand, manage and build complex systems that deliver value to enterprises, including organisational and environmental systems and smart infrastructures (natural, technological, socio-technical, and hybrid). The multidisciplinary Information Systems discipline plays a central role in addressing the need for understanding and managing these complex systems in a sustainable way.

Main responsibilities of the Senior Lecturer role include:

• Engage in teaching undergraduate, postgraduate and/or executive level classes meeting high-quality standards
• Demonstrate leadership in and actively contribute to the development and presentation of leading edge teaching material at all levels
• Engage strongly in collaborative research endeavours and apply for and win competitive research grants and industry funding
• Undertake research leading to publications in top international academic journals
• Contribute to the undergraduate project, honours and research student supervision and Foster the PhD program within the information systems discipline

To be successful in the Senior Lecturer role you will demonstrate the following:

• Experience in effectively developing, teaching and coordinating information systems courses and subjects at the undergraduate and postgraduate level and/or for corporate or executive education
• Ability to undertake high quality, publishable academic research in information systems and related disciplines commensurate with the Senior Lecturer level
• Substantial knowledge of conceptual modelling techniques and approaches in information systems, human/computer interfaces, and user centric modelling
• Have expertise in one or more of the following areas: energy management, disaster management, supply chain management and environmental modelling
• A PhD degree in a relevant discipline

 

Base Salary Range: Senior Lecturer (Level C): $123,911 - $138,453

These roles attract 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary. Employee benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.

These appointments will be on a continuing basis.
