Mater Research, a recognised leader in medical research, together with The University of Queensland are seeking an outstanding clinical research leader to drive multidisciplinary and innovative health research at Mater Research and Mater Research Institute The University of Queensland (MRI-UQ).

Based at state of the art facilities at the new Translational Research Institute (TRI) and the Mater Hospital Campus in Brisbane, Mater Research Institute- The University of Queensland (MRI-UQ) has a strong bench to bedside philosophy, marrying the expertise of clinical and research teams.

Responsible for the development and strategic direction of the organisation of over 250 + researchers, the CEO/Director will provide leadership and management ensuring that the organisation meets its scientific, research and commercial objectives. This includes the development of a stream of significant, successful research programmes and facilitating and growing relationships with key stakeholders in government, philanthropic organisations, other MRIs, hospitals, research organisations and industry.   

Open to both clinicians and non-clinicians, this is an outstanding opportunity for a strong clinical research leader to contribute to the growth strategy of a medical research institute. An excellent track record in clinical research, demonstrated leadership in a research or health services organisation, exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to engage, influence and negotiate at all levels of an organisation are essential. 

This is a 5-year fixed term appointment, renewable by negotiation.  A competitive remuneration and support package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.  This is a research academic appointment jointly created by Mater Research and UQ, defined as a ‘conjoint appointment'.
