Job Details

You will have specific responsibility for the management and coordination of the financial, logistical and administrative aspects of the Macmillan Survivorship Research Group's research programme funded by Macmillan Cancer Support and related studies (value > £4 million) and supporting the Research Group's impact strategy. This will include:
  • Organising and leading the management and delivery of the HORIZONS programme (www.HORIZONS-hub.org.uk), a UK wide prospective cohort study in three different cancer types, which is following patients from pre-treatment through to several years afterwards, and assessing different aspects of survivorship.  
  • You will maintain an ongoing oversight of the overall performance of programme, monitoring progress and ensuring the contractual obligations are delivered.  You will act as the key point of contact between the programme team and key stakeholders, including Macmillan Cancer support, maintaining excellent working relationships and regularly reporting on progress.
  • You will lead on communication activities to raise the profile of the MSRG programme. You will support the Director, Deputy Director and senior team to develop and implement strategies to maximise the impact of research outputs from the programme
  • You will support the Group's Director and Deputy Director in business planning and strategic decision-making by leading on budget profiling and monitoring of expenditure and resource allocation. 
  • You will support the Director and Deputy Director of MSRG with the next phase of securing future Programme funding, including liaison with key stakeholders and writing and submission of funding bids and grant applications.
  • You will act as the lead for business/operational management of the Programme, working with key contacts within the University to ensure appropriate infrastructure, policies and processes are in place to allow the Programme to maximise productivity.
  • You will have direct line management responsibility for several staff.

The post is offered full-time for 12 months in the first instance, to cover a period of maternity leave.
