Role:
The Librarian, as a member of an assigned Faculty Services Team, is responsible for, or shares responsibility with the other Librarian in the team (where there are two Librarians) and the line management of another member of the team. The Librarian provides several services designed to optimally meet the needs of the primary user group, namely staff & students of the given Faculty:
- the provision of high level subject information services;
- collection development and management in support of teaching, learning and research in the Faculty;
- the education of staff and students in the principles and techniques of effective information retrieval;
- the delivery of regular & ongoing liaison activities.
Requirements:
A 3-year Degree or equivalent, plus 1-year Postgraduate Library Diploma PLUS approximately 5 years of relevant experience where such relevant experience includes: -
- Having worked in a computerised academic, research or public library
- Previous exposure to IT applications and electronic library resources & information tools.
- At least 2 years' previous supervision experience OR 1 years' experience (which does not have to be obtained concurrently) PLUS the RU Supervision certificate

Remuneration (Grade 14):
Total annual package: R528 184
