Job Details

Are you passionate about working on the interface between engineering and medicine?

Would you like to be part of a team of multi-disciplinary scientists improving the success rate of in vitro fertilization (IVF)?

This project aims to design and test a novel microfluidic device that will improve preimplantation embryo developmental competence (i.e. quality) and hence increase success rates for couples undergoing assisted conception either for the treatment of infertility or to facilitate preimplantation genetic diagnosis of a known, heritable, genetic disease. You will play a pivotal role in the integration of electrochemical nanoprobes within a microfluidic chip to enable rapid, non--invasive measurement of embryo oxygen consumption which will help clinical practitioners evaluate and select the “best” embryos for transfer so increasing the chance of a successful pregnancy and a baby following assisted conception.
