Job Details

The School of Mathematics in the University of Bristol is seeking to appoint a postdoctoral Research Associate in Geometric Group Theory. The successful applicant will work with Mark Hagen, supported by the EPSRC grant 'New implications of arboreality and hyperbolicity for groups'. The position is available from the 1st June 2019 and is full time with funding available for 12 months.

Our School has a vibrant scientific environment with leading researchers, postdocs and students.  There are reading groups and seminar series in various fields of mathematics relevant to the position. We emphasise the professional development of colleagues in earlier stages of their careers. The post holder will contribute to the research activities of the School, manage their own research agenda (with guidance), publish their results in strong journals, and present them in conferences and seminars. Before, or very close to, the start date, they will have completed a PhD in an area closely related to geometric group theory and demonstrated the ability to conduct research and disseminate results.

For further information, please contact Mark Hagen: https://www.bristol.ac.uk/maths/people/mark-f-hagen/index.html

We appreciate and value difference, seeking to attract, develop and retain a diverse mix of talented people that will contribute to the overall success of Bristol and help maintain our position as one of the world's leading universities.
