Job Details
A PhD position is open in the Focal Area of Growth and Development in the research group of Professor Markus Affolter.
Your position
The PhD project will involve the generation of novel synthetic tools and mutants in Drosophila to better understand how Dpp/BMP acts as a morphogen to control patterning and growth of the wing imaginal disc.
Your profile
We are looking for highly motivated candidates with a Master degree and with a solid background in genetics, molecular biology and cell biology. Experience with Drosophila melanogaster is desired but not mandatory. Teamwork within the international group requires spoken and written English language skills.
For further information, please consult the webpage of Prof. Markus Affolter: (https://www.biozentrum.unibas.ch/affolter/)
We offer you
We offer an exciting international and interdisciplinary research environment at the Biozentrum in Basel to study how patterning and growth of developing organs are controlled using the Drosophila wing imaginal disc as a model system. Salary and social benefits are provided according to the University of Basel regulations.
Application / Contact
Please send a CV, a brief description of previous research experience and the names of three references to Dr. Shinya Matsuda (shinya.matsuda@unibas.ch).
