An opportunity for early career researchers to join the UTS Centre for Autonomous Systems (CAS), an internationally acclaimed robotics research group, and to work together with robotics researchers at UTS. CAS has a very strong team in robotics research and many industry projects. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will contribute to further strengthening the research capability and these relationships.
The UTS Centre for Autonomous Systems (CAS) within the School of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering (MME) is an internationally acclaimed robotics research group. CAS' vision is to be an internationally recognised leader, at a scale and quality to be globally significant, for robotics research, development and commercial application of “Autonomous and Human Interactive Robotics”. Since its establishment in 2003, CAS has demonstrated international leadership in driving research advancements in robotics and in delivering real-world solutions to key challenges facing government, industry and the wider community. Examples include the fundamental research in Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), autonomous robots for bridge maintenance and the autonomous bio-inspired climbing robots, both deployed in the Sydney Harbour Bridge. CAS currently has over 75 robotics researchers with international reputation in SLAM, Infrastructure Robotics, Assistive Robotics and Robot teams. CAS has developed a very strong engagement program with industry and governments. CAS prides itself on a culture of “cooperation, collaboration and ownership”.
CAS seeks to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with expertise in robotics localization and mapping, SLAM, visual navigation, or related fields; and experience in developing intelligent robotic software for industry applications, to further strengthen and expand CAS research.

Responsibilities:
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will contribute to research within the Centre for Autonomous Systems in the UTS Faculty of Engineering & IT:
- Conduct excellent and high impact research in the fields of robotics localization and mapping, SLAM, visual navigation, or the related fields
- Liaise with industry partners and reporting
- Develop collaborative research internally with colleagues within UTS, and externally with researchers in other universities
- Co-supervise research students
- Contribute as a team-player to the activities of the Centre
- Assist project Chief Investigators (CIs) to manage research projects
