RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent will be required to:
- Conduct research in a highly productive manner, to expand existing research programmes, as well as to publish research articles in the foremost internationally accredited journals;
- Acquire research funding outside the University;
- Perform undergraduate and postgraduate teaching;
- Supervise postgraduate Master's and Doctoral students;
- Supervise students in Design and Project;
- Perform assigned departmental duties (e.g. of an administrative nature).
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Lecturer:
- A BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering from a university of which the undergraduate programme is recognised by the Washington Accord or is recognised by ECSA to be substantial equivalent;
- A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering that follows on the previous qualification (described in the previous point);
- The Master's degree and publications should be aligned to one of the three research foci in the Department.
Senior Lecturer (same as for Lecturer, plus):
- A Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering;
- A proven research record supported by publications in peer reviewed journals;
- Doctorate and publication record should be aligned to one of the three research foci in the Department.

Registration as a professional engineer.
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines.
UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
