One year fixed-term contract 

Salary Range: £35,000 to £40,000 per annum

The Aga Khan University (International) in the United Kingdom seeks to appoint a Research Grants Manager on a one year fixed-term contract to support the smooth running of administrative and financial processes for grants. The successful candidate will also provide administrative, clerical and budget planning support to faculty through all stages from grant application to reporting and administrative support for research programmes & activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide all aspects of grant support to faculty. This includes help with identification of research funding opportunities, preparation and writing support to timely submission of grant applications.
  • Coordinate the review (internal and external as required) and acceptance of research funding awards as well as ensure all grant closure procedures are met.
  • Provide on-going financial and other administrative support for research grants and contracts including budget monitoring, financial stewardship for grants; providing information and financial reporting to granting agencies, external bodies (as applicable) and the university as well as administering grant related contracts.
  • Liaise with funders, collaborators, granting agencies and colleagues within the university for matters related to grants contracts
  • Coordinate the internal grant procedures including liaison with the university research office
  • Work with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful grant applications and an efficient grants support service
  • Coordinate research support programmes and activities within the Institute
  • Generate statistical reports on faculty's research output and any other information as required for preparation for Board or other institutional papers
  • Draft content for research pages of the university website and other internal and external communications or reporting, as required
  • Update and ensure consistent implementation of research policies and procedures 
  • Proactively identify opportunities for funded fellowships and administer the process from start to finish (including but not limited to; managing call for expressions of interest, providing support for writing and submitting applications and addressing internal and external reporting requirements)
  • Ensuring research memberships are active; renew as required
  • Develop and monitor research budget in collaboration with Head of Research, ensuring inclusion of institutional research memberships

 

Requirements

Candidates should have:

  • Postgraduate level qualification or equivalent
  • Good understanding of research funding environment within higher education sector 
  • Experience in the administering research grants contracts and providing grants support within higher education  
  • Experience with European Research Council grant will be preferred 
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with strong organisation and prioritisation skills
  • Experience in research grant contracts and working with collaborators and granting agencies
  • Experience in costing and budgeting process for research grants  
  • Strong administrative skills and the ability to analyse and interpret detailed documentation
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines and prioritising workload
