School of Biomedical Sciences

The University of Queensland School of Biomedical Sciences is a distinguished centre for teaching and research in the academic disciplines of Anatomy, Developmental Biology, Physiology, Pharmacology and Pathology. The School has more than 40 full-time research and teaching staff and is one of the largest Schools of its type in Australia. It has links to other prestigious research centres on the St Lucia campus including the Queensland Brain Institute (QBI), the Institute of Molecular Bioscience (IMB) and the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN). Our diverse research provides an exciting environment for national and international research fellows and higher degree students. In addition to its graduate research programs, the School teaches undergraduate students in Science, Medicine, and Health Sciences.

The role

The Manager, Facilities will assist the School Manager in providing an integrated and coordinated approach to the strategic and operational management of the School's facilities and assets.  The position works closely with the Property and Facilities (P&F) division of the University to help plan and manage infrastructure works and maintenance. The position also works collaboratively with the wider Faculty infrastructure team and acts as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders. 

Specific activities encompassed in the position include infrastructure planning, operational site governance, infrastructure management, space and asset management, and construction coordination.  The position also performs an integral role on the School's Space Committee and Health, Safety and Wellness (HSW) Committee, and supports initiatives of the wider Faculty of Medicine's Infrastructure and Research Operations team.   

The person

Applicants should possess postgraduate qualifications in a relevant area with experience in project management; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and training. Proven leadership skills with the ability to successfully mentor, lead and motivate staff, including the ability to foster a cohesive team culture is essential for this position. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent people and communication skills and the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, continuing appointment at HEW Level 8. The remuneration package will be in the range $94,667 - $106,298 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $110,760 - $124,368 p.a.).
