RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Teaching in Computer Science at undergraduate, honours and master's level;
- Conducting research and producing research output in journal and conference proceedings, and peer reviewed articles;
- Supervising honours and MIT projects;
- Marketing for the Department.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A Master's degree in Computer Science;
- A minimum of one accredited journal publication;
- Teaching experience in Computer Science at a tertiary level.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Appropriate communication skills;
- Good time management skills
- Appropriate teaching and research skills.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
- Registered for a Phd degree;
- An active researcher in one of the Department's focus areas;
- Experience in the supervision of honours projects.
The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R470,058 to R622,296 as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University's contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
