This position will manage our quality assurance and food safety programs at the central production facility and receptor sites. This shall include but is not limited to monitoring our product quality micro lab functions, sanitation activities and quality related programs and projects. The Quality Assurance Manager will need to be able to work alone in many of the core functions and also as a team member with the system management team and site production personnel. Will be responsible for working with plant management to motivate the plan-exempt and non-exempt workforce to assume ownership of all areas of the quality program. The ideal candidate will also have a thorough understanding of food safety (GMP HAACP and SOPs) food regulations and basic statistic process control.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for educating plant personnel on quality systems. Assures plant compliance with record keeping laboratory, execution and product grading standards
  • Shall oversee the monitoring of sanitation process effectiveness, assuring plant compliance with food safety (HACCP) programs
  • Work collaboratively with site management to evaluate food safety systems and quality control checks to ensure that they are compliant with HACCP plans and SQF regulatory standards
  • Oversee system QA personnel at all locations
  • Work with plant management to assure plant level preparedness for customer or regulatory inspections through routine audits of operations and review of quality control tools
  • Develop appropriate food safety training modules designed to provide all staff with appropriate knowledge and skills for safe food handling
  • Coordinate with system quality and food safety teams to verify appropriate outcomes are achieved on all customer and regulatory issues (complaints audits requests for information)
  • Leads the Division in troubleshooting plant quality execution deficiencies and the management of product recalls working with technical resources (Engineering /Quality /and R and D) and plant management resources to identify root cause to eliminate recurring quality problems
  • Supervise technical staff in carrying out appropriate product quality/environmental tests and checks
  • Collate and analyze performance data and charts against defined parameters
  • Ensure tests and procedures are properly understood carried out and evaluated
  • Report outcomes of statistical analysis to appropriate management groups

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in food safety, microbiology, chemistry, food science, or general engineering is required
  • 3 years of food management experience
