Role Description

The Lecturer contributes to the delivery of the Strategic Plan in the field of Business as a key member of the School providing excellence in Service and Engagement, Research and Innovation and Teaching and Learning. The position is located at the Sydney campus of UoN which offers postgraduate programs only. The Lecturer combines sound academic research expertise with teaching experience, is expected to be a course coordinator, and is gaining recognition for their contribution to research, teaching, and postgraduate supervision.

Role Responsibilities And Typical Activities

Areas of accountability listed in approximate order of importance and time commitment Incumbents are required to meet the core requirements for academic staff outlined in the Performance Expectations Framework for Academic Staff. Area of accountability Core Responsibilities and Typical Activities Measures of Performance Research and Innovation Demonstrate effective research skills, the establishment of a record of outputs/creative works in high - quality refereed journals/outlets, an active role in grant applications and evidence of emerging national recognition in a field of expertise. Participate in an active research group(s). Meet the core requirements for Level B academic staff listed under Research and Innovation in the Performance Expectation s ProVice-Chancellor Faculty of Business & Law Head of School Newcastle Business School Lecturer Establish/maintain partnerships/networks with industry, government to support work integrated learning and research/funding opportunities. With the support of mentors/supervisors , co-supervise HDR students , and co-publish with HDR students Framework for Academic Staff Teaching and Learning Demonstrate educational leadership in Teaching and Learning at the course level and contribute to the program level by: 

  • Actively updating and delivering courses in various formats and locations (including online delivery and support ) to enhance the student experience.
  • Assisting in reviewing and coordinating post-graduate coursework and coordinating the interdisciplinary development of course materials.
  • Promoting teaching innovation including the integration of contemporary trends across relevant online and digital platforms and media into content and delivery.
  • Demonstrating the application of continuous improvement methodologies to inform a positive student experience. This will include the regular review of course analytics, relevant quality assurance standards and other appropriate feedback/benchmarking data; and
  • With the support of senior academics, developing course material that integrates business practice into the curriculum to deliver opportunities for students consistent with contemporary labour force trends. Meet the core requirements for Level B academic staff listed under Teaching and Learning in the Performance Expectations Framework for Academic Staff Service and Engagement Actively contribute to the School through a range of administrative functions including course coordination, governance and committee roles, and University activities/initiatives. Maintain membership of professional associations/ industry networks and build partnerships with secondary schools and industry/ business enterprises. Develop a public profile as a commentator on discipline/industry related issues Establish/maintain partnerships/networks with industry, government to support work integrated learning and research/funding opportunities.
